This innovative role combines traditional farm management expertise with remote consulting to help shape the future of institutional agricultural training programs.

  • Guide the expansion of our flagship Garden Education Center at Veterans Haven North
  • Implement The Market Gardener’s intensive methods in an institutional setting
  • Mentor veterans transitioning into sustainable agricultural careers
  • Create systems and protocols that can be replicated at other facilities
  • Help pioneer a new model of agricultural consulting for institutional settings
  • Minimum 3 years managing successful market garden operations
  • Experience with The Market Gardener’s intensive methods
  • Strong understanding of small-scale organic farming systems
  • Proven ability to teach and mentor beginning farmers
  • Comfort with digital communication and remote collaboration
  • Part-time (10-15 hours/week)
  • Remote work with potential for occasional site visits
  • Flexible schedule with regular check-ins
  • Competitive hourly rate ($30-$50/hour based on experience)

  • Provide strategic direction for garden expansion and development
  • Guide implementation of Market Gardener intensive methods
  • Advise on resource allocation and infrastructure development
  • Support training program development for beginning farmers
